Mary Kelly Foy, Labour MP for the City of Durham has announced that nominations are now open for her Small Business of the Year award for 2024.
This is the third year running that Ms Foy has run the initiative, searching for ‘Durham’s Small Business of the Year’ to highlight the fantastic independent businesses in her constituency.
Speaking about the initiative Ms Foy said: “We are lucky to have so many incredible small businesses in the City of Durham constituency and this is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to have their say and nominate their favourite to be in with a chance of winning this year’s accolade.”

“Every single nominated business will also be promoted on my website and social media pages, this initiative is about showing our small businesses and their hardworking owners and staff some major love.”
Ms Foy is also encouraging constituents in new parts of her constituency, such as Willington and Langley Park, to nominate small businesses they wish to showcase.

The award is not limited to city centre businesses and the Labour MP encourages residents who are based in all of the towns and villages around her constituency to get involved. Past winners include Daisy Rose Coffee House in 2022 and Vanity Hair Salon in 2023.
